Leaving Terracina, a side trip to the Temple of Jove offers spectacular views of the sea and city. The vistas continue as we follow the ancient Via Appia overlooking the coastal plain below.

The way today includes a well preserved stretch of the ancient Via Appia. The road passes through the historic gem of Itri, and emerges onto the beach at Formia.

Today's path passes a great Roman theater before entering Campania at the Ganglino bridge. The day ends at the old cathedral of Sessa Aurunca with its wonderful mosaics.

Today the way includes ancient roads, deeply carved by ruts and rain, hilltop chapels, old olive groves, and the church of St. Mary of the Snow.

This country road leads through the beautiful town of Capua, through the ruins of villas, churches, fruit trees, and fields of salad greens, with mountains in the background.

This is a mostly urban walk that includes a Roman amphitheater, a gladiator jail, and in Caserta, a Bourbon castle with huge gardens and plaza.

This is a mostly urban walk with wonderful mountains and orchards in the background, ending with the famous tower in Montesarchio.

This is an easy walk into Benevento, a city of many treasures, including the Cathedral, the church of Santa Sophia and its tower, and the arch of Trajan.
