01. Rome to Castel Gandolfo

This first stage of the pilgrimage follows the old Via Appia straight into the countryside.

02. Castel Gandolfo to Velletri

This path winds through the woods above and between the lakes. The old town of Nemi offers great views (and wild strawberries and cream).

03. Velletri to Cori

Today's route follows quiet roads through woods and open meadows into the town of Cori, where the paintings in the Chiesa dell'Annunciata are the town's great treasure.

04.Cori to Sezze

This beautiful track provides spectacular rugged vistas of ancient towns, the Pontine plain, and cattle ranches.

05. Sezze to Abbazia di Fossanova

The walk descends into the foothills along rural paths and roads and leads to a priceless treasure of Cistercian architecture.

The path runs between the foothills and fields of diverse crops, before rejoining the Via Appia as we enter the port city.
