Leaving Margherita, we took the SS152 and after crossing the river we left the main highway. Then we followed the road that makes a diagonal into Barletta. We ate lunch under the palm trees along the lunghomare. Leaving Barletta, we stayed along the path along the coast, which makes for a very nice walking path. It is a narrow, relatively isolated country lane, which becomes increasing isolated after crossing a small bridge over a canal (very close to the sea). We followed this and then back roads, until the road widens out and becomes what seems to be a gay cruising area, near the entrance of a road from the highway. The back roads enter an industrial part of Trani, with a lot of marble factories. We stayed at the Trani Area Sosta--the first tent campers ever to stay there.
