Because of a couple of painful knees, we got a ride to the convent of San Matteo near S. Marco in Lamis and missed most of the day's 600 meter climb. We look forward to trip reports for the first part of this stage from other pilgrims.
The path climbs up to a pine woods and through the antennas at the top of the hill. From here, the path offers spectacular views of the surrounding area, including San Giovanni and the sea. About a kilometer after the antennas, stones line the path to the top of Coppa Larena. The the path leads down a wonderful rocky path, arriving at the Shrine to Padre Pio in the city of San Giovanni Rotondo.
