This is a great, peaceful walk.
The path leads out of Lucera from the north side of the old castle.
The rest of the walk is on back roads into San Severo. Note there is not much shade here in the afternoons.
San Severo is surrounded by vast wheat fields, olive groves, and vineyards. Occupied in neolithic times, a city founded by the Greeks, San Severo remained pagan until 536, one of the last cities in Italy to become Christian. It was also among the first to declare allegiance to the Kingdom of Italy in 1860.
